According to Orkin Pest Control, termites are a nasty business causing approximately $30 billion in damages to homes and businesses each year. A subterranean species of termite is the Formosan Termite. Here are some interesting facts about these wood-destroying insects:

How to prevent Formosan Termites from entering your home? Here are some tips:

  • Store wood piles at least 7 yards from your home
  • Divert water away from the home’s foundation with gutters, downspouts, and splash blocks
  • Remove fallen limbs and brush piles within 10 years of your home
  • Eliminate any unnecessary sources of water inside your attic, basement, or crawl space as well as in any outside pots, buckets, and yard art.
